About CA-NV AWWA
Formed in 1920 (and rapidly approaching the 100-year anniversary) the California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association encompasses the drinking water occupations, from CEO/General Manager to the beginning system operator or clerk. Based in Rancho Cucamonga, California (Inland Empire) with a training center in Sacramento area, the organization carries out a full calendar of events and classes, for formal and informal learning and networking. These programs constitute a major portion of the base $2.5 million budget. The organization is wrapping up a 2-year, $3.25 million grant for a technical assistance program reaching all urban drinking water systems in California.
A new organizational structure for the 6,000 members and newly updated strategic plan raise the emphasis on philanthropic efforts (scholarships and other) as well as member services and communication. The Section enjoys a close and mutually supportive relationship with the parent organization, AWWA, with offices in Denver and Washington, DC. As a 501(c)(3), the principal mission is educational, including to bring members' knowledge and experience to bear on significant public policy matters.
