Water Management & Efficiency Committee
The purpose of this committee is to promote total water management and increase water use efficiency and cost effectiveness throughout water agency service areas by prudent water management practices and use of feasible technologies. It shall emphasize current water management issues and programs that have been recently implemented or are under evaluation, addressing topics such as: management of water supplies, including surface water, groundwater, and recycled water; environmental stewardship and sustainability of water supplies; water use efficiency and conservation; conjunctive use of water; exchange agreements and water transfers; developments and trends in basin management, cost sharing, and basin equity assessments; and legal constraints and requirements.
The committee shall accomplish its mission by providing technical sessions at Section conferences in cooperation with related committees such as Water Loss Control, New Technology, and Meter, organizing topical seminars and workshops, preparing sessions or units for the Water College, contributing articles for Source Magazine, and preparing position papers for consideration by the Section Governing Board to promote legislation, regulations, and policies affecting total water management.
This committee reports to the Water Resources Division.
