Advanced water treatment technologies play a crucial role in creating new supply and in tackling a range of pressing water-related challenges.  These methods include membrane filtration (like reverse osmosis and nanofiltration), activated carbon adsorption and ion exchange, and UV disinfection and advanced oxidation processes (AOP).  These technologies are the go-to solution to removing contaminants of emerging concern and other contaminants that conventional treatment systems often cannot address.  This is a four-part series covering membrane technology and usage, specialized water treatment, creating a diverse and stable water portfolio by creating new or expanding existing sources, and addressing groundwater issues.

Key Topics Include:
  • Membrane Treatment Processes and Operations Using AWT Technology
    • basic membrane technology
    • applications of this technology in water, wastewater and reuse applications
    • cover operations and maintenance of membrane components
    • discuss California's Full Advanced Treatment trains
    • look at how membrane bioreactors can be applied to improve water quality from a wastewater facility and comply with operational permit requirements
  • Using AWT Specialized Treatment Technologies
    • Look at how AWT technologies and specialized treatment can be applied to address impaired water sources and water scarcity
    • Discuss these three AWT treatment technologies: granular carbon (GAC), ion exchange and reverse osmosis.
    • Look at EPA best available technologies and documentation for treating problem water sources.
  • Using AWT Technologies to Create a Diverse and Stable Portfolio
    • Look at how to create a more diverse water supply.
    • Discuss how the Orange County Ground Water Recharge System treats secondary sewage to recharge a ground water aquifer.
    • Look at variations on Full Advanced Treatment Trains and projects that are currently under construction or in the planning stages and how technology is applied to assure proper treatment
  • Using AWT Technologies to Address Groundwater Issues
    • Practical applications of AWT systems including granular activated carbon (GAC), ion exchange, reverse osmosis and UV/AOP for addressing these contaminants is ground water

Participants will receive a Certificate of Training upon successful completion of the FULL 4-part webinar series!
