Water Audit Validator Certificate

Registration for webinars is a 2-step process.  Once you have registered here, please look for an email titled "Your Webinar Registration is Almost Complete" for the link to complete the registration process in Zoom.  After registering in Zoom you will receive an email containing your unique link to the webinar.

Please Note:
The certificate is open to all interested persons including utility staff and consultants.  We do not introduce the terms or approach to the water audit; we dive right into validation guidance.

Prerequisites:
You MUST HAVE working knowledge of the water audit methodology (AWWA M36) and experience with the AWWA Free Water Audit Software is recommended. The WAV curriculum assumes that all participants are fluent in water auditing methodology and are proficient with the AWWA Free Water Audit Software, including the Data Validity Grade criteria. The WAV curriculum builds on knowledge within the WAV Training Manual; strong understanding of the content here is critical for a validator’s success.

Please verify you meet the prerequisite requirements, as you will be unable to receive a refund if you start the course and do not meet those requirements.  Registering for this class confirms that you have enough water audit expertise and experience to meet the prerequisites.  

Who can obtain a WAV certificate?

  • Open to all interested persons including utility staff and consultants.
  • Must have working knowledge of the water audit methodology (AWWA M36) and experience with the AWWA Free Wat6er Audit Software is recommended.
Strongly Recommended:
  • Working knowledge and practical experience in performing water audits with the AWWA Free Water Audit Software.  The WAV class does not provide introductory training on water auditing; all water audit terms and M36 water audit methodology are considered pre-requisite knowledge.
  • To attend this course, full participation is required.  Your computer or laptop will need working microphone and a video camera.
Description:
The Water Audit Validator course, is designed to qualify individuals to perform Level 1 water audit validations in California and is based on the AWWA Free Water Audit Software Version 6.

Certified water audit validators examine water loss audit inputs and supporting documents to verify that the correct methodology was used, to evaluate the selections made in the interactive data grading sheet, and to identify and document sources of uncertainty.  Per Senate Bill 555, urban retail water suppliers must submit validated distribution system water audits for all water suppliers under their management annually by January 1.

An exam will be proctored following instruction.  Individuals who successfully complete this class and pass the exam will receive a Water Audit Validator certificate.  The certificate will be valid for 3 years, and applicable for the AWWA Free Water Audit Software Version 6.

This webinar is 8:00 am - 12:00 pm on July 21-23.  The exam will be given on July 24.

Refund Policy

Requests for refunds and transfers must be made in writing and are subject to the following conditions: Full refund of fee paid (minus 25% handling fee) will be issued for cancellations received more than 15 days prior to class start date. All fees are non-refundable thereafter. Transfers are based on availability. No transfer requests will be authorized if they are not received more than 15 days prior to class start date. A 100% refund or credit of your registration fee will be issued if a class is canceled by the Section.
