Water Loss Control & Leak Detection Training

Registration for webinars is a 2-step process.  Once you have registered here, please look for an email titled "Your Webinar Registration is Almost Complete" for the link to complete the registration process in Zoom.  After registering in Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email containing your unique link to the webinar.

During the webinar, please check the participant list to make sure your name appears.  Contact hours will only be issued to the names that appear on the participant list.

Target Audience:
  • Water utility professionals including: engineers, technicians, and managers involved in water distribution and management
  • Environmental engineers, consultants, and regulators interested in water conservation and sustainability

Prerequisites:
  • Basic understanding of water distribution systems and hydraulics
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques would be beneficial but not required

Description:
This training webinar is designed to engage and equip participants with knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage water loss and detect leaks in water distribution systems.  Participants will learn about various water loss control techniques, tools and strategies used in water distribution systems.  The class topics will cover practical applications and real-world scenarios for data analysis, infrastructure assessment, cost effective water loss mitigation strategies and leak detection methods.

This training also serves as a prerequisite for the California Water Audit course (WAV Certificate Training Program, by CA-NV Section, AWWA), a three-day certification training program required for individuals seeking to perform Level 1 water audit validations and earn the Water Audit Validator certificate (valid for three years).  To take the WAV Certificate Training Program, search our education schedule for "Water Audit Validator Certificate" to find out the next course dates offered.

  1. Understand the importance of water loss control and leak detection in water distribution systems.
  2. Learn various techniques and technologies used for leak detection, including acoustic detection, methods of leak correlations, continuous leak monitoring and other methods.
  3. How to develop strategies for assessing water distribution infrastructure and prioritizing leak detection efforts to control losses.
  4. Explore "Best Management Practices" and approached for mitigating water loss and reducing non-revenue water.
  5. Understand the role of distribution system proactive maintenance and asset management in water loss control.

    Requests for refunds and transfers must be made in writing and are subject to the following conditions: Full refund of fee paid (minus 25% handling fee) will be issued for cancellations received more than 15 days prior to class start date. All fees are non-refundable thereafter. Transfers are based on availability. No transfer requests will be authorized if they are not received more than 15 days prior to class start date. A 100% refund or credit of your registration fee will be issued if a class is canceled by the Section.
