Prerequisite : Current employment in a class at least at the level of Water Utility Worker within the Water Distribution Division.
Suggested Prerequisite : High School diploma and/or GED; basic math skills

Course Description:
The 40-hour course provides a comprehensive introduction to water and related distribution systems for Water Distribution Operators at the small system operator and apprenticeship levels and those desiring to secure employment as a water distribution operator.  Participants learn key concepts and terms in topic areas including:  water sources and regulations; wells and pumps; water pressure and head; water and power; instrumentation and controls; and water distribution system operation.  The essentials of water mathematics are introduced throughout the course to increase your skill in using formulas and conversion factors on the job.

Required Text: Water Distribution, Grades 1 & 2. AWWA Water System Operations, 2016.

100% attendance is required to earn CEUs.
